Akershus University College

Akershus University College is one of the State University Colleges in Norway. The campus is located in Lillestroem, north-east of Oslo. We offer our 3900 students and 300 staff members excellent facilities in our modern building.

The University College offers a variety of professional study programmes (Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes and extension and continuing courses) at the four faculties:

  • Faculty of Product Design

  • Faculty of Health, Nutrition and Management

  • Faculty of Behavioural Science

  • Faculty of Technical and Vocational Teacher Education

Study programmes

The Bachelor´s degree programmes at Akershus University College are mainly professionally oriented and characterised by integration of theory and practice. The candidates are attractive to a wide range of professions needed througout the society, such as product design, nursing, social education, vocational teaching, facility and service management, institutional catering management, and information and communication technology.

One of our principal strategic aims is to be a modern learning centre providing expert tuition founded on research work produced by the highly experienced and qualified academic staff.

Faculty of Product Design

Product Design studies produce the combination of artistic insight, technical skills and craftsmanship, and the need for good design in our culture. The studies are mainly related to one of three materials wood, metal or ceramics. The studies include project work combined with practical work in the studio.
As a product design student you will meet spacious, functional and modern workshops, studios, classrooms and lecture facilities.

Faculty of Health, Nutrition and Management

The faculty has a long history of providing studies for health care professionals.
At campus, the students will meet modern study facilities such as authentic furnished hospital rooms for training, equipped with medical instruments. The faculty cooperates with the hospitals and the health sector in this region.
Every June, after 3 years of study, about 100 candidates pass their final exam in nursing. After successfully completing their studies, the candidates are awarded a Bachelor´s degree in Nursing, and are also eligible for authorization as general nurses.

Faculty of Behavioural Science

The faculty offers their bachelor students training for practitioners as Social Educators by following the Bachelor´s programme in Social Education. The study qualifies for providing holistic care and carrying out habilitation and rehabilitation work with people who are in need of such services. The faculty also offers continuing courses within the habilitation- and rehabilitation area. As a result of research and innovation work, a very exciting Master´s programme has been developed by the academic staff at the faculty.

Faculty of Technical  and Vocational Teacher Education

The majority of our students are studying at the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Teacher Education. Most of them are mature students with backgrounds in a wide variety of vocational fields.

The faculty offers several Bachelor´s programmes and Master´s programmes and also a number of continuing courses, particularly for teachers.
The faculty offers some of the programmes as part-time studies.
